About

Originally from Uxbridge in Greater London, James is a physics teacher and digital coach based in Malaysia. After graduating from St Andrews University in Scotland with a Bachelors degree in Physics, he attended Oxford University for a PGCE in secondary science. He then worked for two years at a prestigious grammar school in Buckinghamshire, before becoming Key Stage 5 co-ordinator and Head of Physics at a diverse rural school in Oxfordshire. He moved to Malaysia with his wife Milly in 2015, working at one of the first British boarding schools in the country. While there he was responsible for logistics within the school, such as timetabling and class allocations, as well as running a lifesaving club and assisting with a scuba club. In 2017 he moved to his current school in Kuala Lumpur, where he is a digital coach with particular emphasis on data analysis and interpretation.

Over his career, James has worked on a number of projects including the GreenPen exams analysis software, which he co-wrote with his head of department, Joe Rowland.

James lives with his wife Milly in Kuala Lumpur with their two cats, Titch and Sarabi. They are both PADI Divemasters and love exploring the waters around South-East Asia.
